Starks to Represent the Falls in Super Bowl XLV

xxoo,

What a positive story for the City of Niagara Falls, NEW YORK! Yes there is a U.S. side of the border for which people reside at.  I grew up there!

So as we all get pumped for Super Bowl XLV...it's a bit special for the fans of James Starks a University of Buffalo grad and Niagara Falls native.  The Green Bay rookie running back, scored a touch down (td) as he rushed for 74 yards on 22 carries in the NFC championship game as the "Cheeseheads" defeated the Chicago Bears, giving them the right to contend in Super Bowl XLV.

LBD...Little Black Dress

xxoo,

This topic calls for me to bust out the red ink.  Since I've been working out over the past six months on a pretty regular basis...I'm in the mood to seek out a new LBD (little black dress guys).
Urbandictionary.com describes it as...the dress is most likely overworn but always seems appealing especially when added with accessories such as bangles and clutch purse.

Typically I would find and LBD at some random time of the year and at what ever store I see fit. This time I'm planning ahead like a wedding, baby or vaykay...boom...bam...let's go!

The View on...Oprah pregnant @ 14

xxoo,

You know me...I'm a sensationalist. I love the juicy (hottt) news, gossip and at times hard news that shape our lives.  It's my mood that sways me.

So I tuned into the View today and found myself wondering if I was dreaming.  Slap me...pinch me...holla.  No it was all to true. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan...Oprah said she found herself pregnant @ 14...carried the baby and then it died after birth. She contemplated suicide and then believed she was given a second chance at life after her lose.

First~how sad...my heart just sank because that is "real life issues."
Second~I truly admire her courage to speak and relive this hardship. Afterall, Oprah has one of the most powerful platforms in the world. Lastly, stories like this spark up the desire for me to begin a organization that assists with single parent homes, low income families or inner city kids by supporting and strengthning young children. Goosh ...life is so crazy...thank you God for guiding me.

Fashion Forward...

xxoo,
Since high school I've always known exactly what field I wanted to develop my career in.  Many people spend their entire lives searching for that personal satisfaction or their life purpose. They say that the average adult changes careers up to six times throughout their life.

Yikes! No Thanks

Fashion...Communications... & Media where always a part of my life. Whether I dream about it or actually live it, it's a daily thought. From plastering my bedroom walls with countless magazine pics of beautiful models draped in fabulous designer clothes (ah that was my teen yrs. ppl.) to producing and hosting my own TV show...I live for it!

Change is constant and at this point in my life my focus is on my family.  Yet my desires are stronger then ever...so let my creative juices flow right!

Each month I anxiously await my new magazine subscriptions like, InStyle...Marie Claire...Sister 2 Sister and every time I tear open the cover for the "IT" factor.  Was is that??? It's that collage of clothing that I want to wear.  It's that hair style that I take a 2nd or 3rd look at and know that I would rock it better.  It's those shoes that wink at me with comfort or signal the smile of hurt.

Here are a few pieces that I thought were designed with brilliance...peep these.

Comfy Food...

xxoo,

First off, I want to send a big shout out to my loving husband for bringing home a bag of
mini "Twix" candy bars and bag of
"Truffle Chex Mix"
right before dinner.

Ah #1
--I didn't get my workout in today thanks to the 18 inches of snow that was dumped on us.

#2
--I'm really trying to re-train my taste buds to loathe that stuff.  Really I am.  Surprisingly I didn't dog the stuff beyond remembrance.  Yup that's right...typically I would eat tasty treats bit by bit and not even realize that I polished it off.  I would swing open the cabinet, look into the snack shelf and say, "now I know I had another container of yogurt covered pretzels left." Another shout out for my friend Kelly for getting me hooked on those babies!

My husband thought it was interesting that many women have relationships with their food.  I have a love hate relationship with it. Feelings of boredom, loneliness, anger, sadness, happiness, celebration, ect...can drive us to either cook/eat a good meal or snack the mess out of something temptress.

Since I've been working out more, I think twice about what I eat. Heck...I work way hard to burn off 300+ calories each session. Plus if I know I'm not in total control, I just don't by it or allow myself a "cheat" day if need be.

So this brings me to my list of comfy foods.

Cereal
Blackberries
Strawberries
Bread-n-Butter
Yogurt & Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Notice the pattern? Everything has a sweet taste to it.

Not too bad...

What are yours?

My Secret Love...

xxoo,

Basketball Wives, Kate Plus 8, Bad Girls Club, Real Housewives (ALL) Bachelor 15...what do they all have in common? DRAMA! My secret is out, I tune in, I DVR and I watch with great anticipation.  Yet why does our brain crave this crazy stuff? For me I finally figured it out--I so lack drama and I so enjoy a good chuckle.  Nothing more nothing less.

So since that mystery was solved, I pontificated (cute word huh) upon what my reality show would be about if given the chance to produce one.

Possible Show Ideas~

A) Near clueless after watching 3,000+ hours of basketball...I do shout out a mean cheer though:)

B) Explore (my new city) Boston with Niki. eg. Park, park, Dunkin, mall, park, park, Dunkin (1 on every corner & for the record, I miss my Tim Hortons)~I'm not even joking, I spent most of the summer @ the beautiful parks around Boston (Newton).

C) 100 ways to make breakfast! We love eating and breakfast food is our favorite type. From cheesy grits to blackberry pancakes, I'm not even playing with you.

Ok so my life doesn't warrant the hair pulling, back stabbing bff's and name calling cat fights that we see on the hit reality shows but I would represent the "real people" of the world with a whole lot of class and goofyness!

P.S. come on my 4 year old hides he's boogies in his sisters room! Shhhh don't tell.

Undeniable Confidence Which Exudes...

xxoo,

Not just in your clothes, make-up or hair but in the very words that abreast of your mouth and the acts that you follow through with. See I'm in the mood to talk confidence (aka swag for all of my youth readers)!

As I continue to transform my external self, I feel compelled to work steadfast on my internal self.  After all, every good trainer says you need to obtain and maintain a "strong core" right?  Right...and once you have a solid base all else falls in line.

Speaking straight to the point about wife, mommie and me Niki--I'm scrapping the "balance idea" and focusing on confidence.  I will never ever forget the day I was watching Oprah and she said something along the lines that, women can have it all but not at once. That was several years ago and yet I still live my life around that notion. We want the husband, kids, career and total bliss all day everyday. Relax a moment and exhale.

I love my family, I love journalism and I love me. So how do I incorporate them all with confidence? Very simple, trust that God would steer me into the right direction in order to make the right decisions. Even before the new year had rolled in, I knew that with our recent move to a new state and my husband getting a new job and my kids starting a new school, that I had to find an outlet(s) just for me. You know I did! I found it through weekly exercise...I completing an editing class at our local tv station...praying was a priority and I loved just where God put me in life right here right now!

Are you SERIOUS?

Hey there...

I stepped on the scale this afternoon and I was down 3lbs. from this week! Yes...and I worked oh so hard for each of those stubborn pounds. The secret is not as simple as many would think. Sure the experts say exercise, eat less fat and sugar, move your hinney ect. Hold up, you just can't paint us all with the same paint brush my love!

One year ago I delivered my third child.  I'm 5'9 and once the ninth month hit, that scale said 205. I nearly fainted...only because I knew that #1...I'm in my early thirties=+10 lbs. for even looking @ a brownie and #2...I won't have nearly as much extra time to "GET MOVING" aka "EXERCISE" now that baby #3 has arrived.

So where am I now one year later...well lets say Ive lost all but 5lbs. of the baby weight from baby #3...but I'm not stopping there! I failed to tell you all that I still had 10 lbs. left to loose from baby #2.

Will I loose the 15 lbs.? Yes indeed! Will I share with you my secret to loosing it?? Yes indeed! Ready set lets go...
